Recovery is a choice, an intentional mindset. While various recovery groups like AA and NA as well as therapy options do help, we believe lasting and true recovery is ultimately only possible through faith in Jesus.
Will this limit who likes our posts and gear? Probably. So why take a stance on who we identify as our Higher Power? ...because the only way to truly recover is indeed through faith in Jesus. So, yes we do recover. But we recover God's way.
Jesus said in Matthew 7:13-14, "Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
Many people know they have a problem, but the solution isn't readily obvious or easy. Actually, in a sense faith is easy. The hard part comes when we want to keep control of our lives. Ah, but recall the first step in the twelve steps? Admit you are powerless. So surrender is a basic first step in the road to recovery.
By step three we are supposed to identify who our higher power is. Choose RCVRY chooses by faith to accept Jesus as the only Higher Power that will bring true, lasting recovery. And that message isn't popular among everyone. Why the heck not? Because it's exclusive. However, if it's truth, it doesn't matter if it's exclusive. So to go all Yoda on us, wrestle with faith we must!
Narrow is the legit way to true recovery and it sucks that so few find it. So many blindly head down the wide path to ultimate destruction. We are passionate that true recovery is indeed possible in Jesus.
Whether an addict or not, we all have sin that keeps us from God. We are all in need of recovery.
Through Jesus We. Do. Recover.
Peace,
Derek
